Celebrities Want Kanye West For President In 2020

Since making his stunning announcement at the MTV VMAs last week, Kanye West has been getting a lot of support for his potential 2020 presidential bid.

West rocked the music and political establishments when he announced to the world that he was planning to run for political office.

“I don’t know what I stand to lose after this. It don’t matter though, because it ain’t about me. It’s about ideas, bro, new ideas. People with ideas, people who believe in truth,” West said while accepting the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award at the VMAs last Sunday. “And yes, as you probably could have guessed by this moment, I have decided in 2020 to run for president.” (Mic drop.)

Sister-in-law Khloe Kardashian was quick to show her approval.

Ice Cube

“I’m voting for Kanye. Why not?” the “Straight Outta Compton” star told the Daily Mail newspaper. “Who’s better than Kanye to run?”

Chelsea Clinton

“I definitely think who runs for office is really important,” Clinton told MTV News while supporting the Clinton Foundation’s No Ceilings Project. “Even if him just saying that helps sparks a little boy or a little girl who was watching the VMAs to think, ‘Oh, wow! Maybe I should do that,’ that’s awesome.” As for whether she’ll vote for him, Clinton said, “I think it depends on who he’d be running against” — no doubt thinking about her own mom Hillary Clinton, who could be running for a second term if she gets elected in 2016.

Taylor Swift

After Swift introduced West before the Vanguard award, some suggested she would make a great running mate. Swift seemed at least open to the idea when she posted this photo on Instagram, writing, “Awwww Kanye sent me the coolest flowers!! #KanTay2020 #BFFs”

Vanessa Williams

“I guess he’ll actually do it. He’s pretty much a man of his word, so I’ll be curious to see what his platform is. And who he’s running against,” Williams told Cosmopolitan magazine at the U.S. Open opening gala. “It’s fascinating, and everyone has the right to do whatever they want to do.”

Alec Baldwin

“I think it’s fantastic,” Baldwin told Cosmo. “I think anybody participating in politics, running — it’s too elitist now, too many elites. Even though Kanye himself is an elite, he’s a different kind of elite.”

Josh Groban

Groban was more focused on West’s wife Kim Kardashian as first lady.

“Her fashion would be extraordinary,” he told Cosmo. “She’d kill it.”

Anna Chlumsky

“You know, he’s got some time, I guess,” Chlumsky told Cosmo. “Crazier things have happened. We’ve had entertainers in the White House before.”

Kelly Rowland

“Why not? Trump is making a shot at it,” Rowland said, making it clear who she’d vote for in a contest between the two. “I would definitely vote for Kanye,” she said.

Rihanna

Rihanna also brought up Trump.

“I mean people are voting for [Donald] Trump,” Rihanna told “Entertainment Tonight.” “Who wouldn’t vote for Kanye? … His speech was incredible.”

Donald Trump

“He’s actually a different kind of person than people think,” the real estate mogul and Republican presidential candidate told Rolling Stone. “He’s a nice guy. I hope to run against him someday.”
