Selita Ebanks Tells It All To Power 105.1 Breakfast Club

Selita Ebanks - The Breakfast ClubSelita Ebanks - The Breakfast Club 1

[NecoleBitchie] Rocking minimal makeup and her hair in a cute messy bun, Selita Ebanks still put some chicks to shame early this morning when she stopped by The Breakfast Club Morning Show to kick it with Charlamagne, Angela Yee and DJ Envy. While there, the stunning model promoted her new Kickstarter campaign for her upcoming show ‘Celebrity Grounds,’ which she’s also invested her own money in. Of course, the crew got all up in her business to get the tea on her breakups with both Nick Cannon and Terrence J, as well as if the rumors where true that she beat up a chick in the club over Terrence J.

Peep a few highlights below:

On growing up in a household with 7 brothers
I have seven brothers and I grew up in a household of snots and wedgies and nuggies and whole house of mess.[…]It’s funny, they beat me up a lot when I was a kid, but once I got to a certain age where I could hit back, then I started beating them up. Then I realized I was beating up my boyfriends.[…]I like to get physical. I like to wrestle.

On ending her relationship with Terrence J and her father’s advice
Everything has to take its course. He went to L.A. He’s got bigger and better things. E! News doing it big! Shout out to him.[…]It was just a lot of things. I had to focus more on my acting. He’s contracted to E! News. We just decided to do our own thing. A lot of times in relationships people tend to put the other person in front of them and they lose focus of what they need to do. I think a little bit of that was happening. Like I said, it’s allowed me to now be in this seat talking about Kickstarter.

I’m a very strong independent woman. My father his greatest advice to me was to let a man be a man. That’s the hardest thing for me to do because I like to just get things done. Don’t tell me one thing and don’t do it. I’ma do it for you. Show me something. Educate me.

On if she beat up a girl over Terrence J in Miami
Ain’t nobody got beat up, relax. Bye Felicia.

On if it was awkward working with her ex-fiance Nick Cannon on this season of Real Husbands of Hollywood
It wasn’t awkward for me. That was a long time ago.[…]I was very young, he was young. Everything happens for a reason. It taught me a lot. Especially with media. Y’all was brutal. I was called everything under the sun for just getting engaged. But I was very young and it was a lesson that helped me get thick skin so now I just don’t give a s–t.

Absolutely not. If anything I admire him greatly. He’s worked so hard. It was probably for him, but not so much for me. I was good. I was just happy to be there in the company of great comedian and actors. Kevin Hart has been so great to me. Everyone at BET is so supportive. They definitely encourage me to step outside of my little box when it comes to acting. Be myself and be crazy and silly. Throw a little ‘hood in there.

On if it’s hard for her to find a man
I wouldn’t say it’s hard to find a man. It’s hard to find a man with some common sense.

The best gift she’s ever gotten from a boyfriend
I like diamonds.

On if she’s ever dated a white man
I’ve never seen a pink penis.

She’s no longer filming a reality show
I recorded a few episodes for Style. Style got bought by Esquire, and I kind of see it as a blessing because you know as much as I love coming up here to talk to you guys, I’m never the person to tweet my personal business or Instagram too much personal or talk too much about my personal life. I hold it very sacred. So doing a reality show about my life, I was freaked out. My management, my acting management, my modeling agency…everyone had to sit me down and give me a good pep talk and tell me why this was gonna be great. I have so many projects, it was a great platform to promote my projects, but it didn’t happen. I kind of see it as a blessing in disguise.

On ending her time with Victoria’s Secret
I did it for a very long time, five years. It’s just something that it’s time to move on. I got to wear the million dollar bra. I was [the] face of fragrances. I was in the show for five years. I have to tell you, the industry is so short of brown faces on that runway, so I’m very honored to be apart of that and apart of history and all that great stuff in sexy women world.

On if she’s ever fallen during a runway show
I’ve been — knock on wood — I’ve been so blessed as to never have fallen. I definitely lost a shoe. The ankle wobbled a little bit. For me it was one year I did Victoria’s Secret and that was the year I think I wore the $4.5 million bra and panties set and I had a green Christmas tree cape. In the finale it as so long I couldn’t wear it out on the runway so I had to take it off. I’m walking out and I realize that I Was wearing a thong. It’s like, eh, what are you gonna do? Not go out there? It’s the finale. They’re filming. This cost millions of dollars to film this production so I just walked out there. In my mind, I was freaking out. I’m sure when the camera saw me, I was the most confident woman in the world.

On her new $1,000,000 Kickstarter project
‘Celebrity Grounds’ is a new show that I’m executive producing and hosting. We got an NBC cozy deal, distribution deal, and now we are on Kickstarter trying to raise a million dollars. We already put in 900,000 of our own money. We could’ve went the traditional way and got backers, but the problem with that is you don’t own nothing. They take full control and you just end up being a face on TV. We want to own it. They say God bless the child that got his own. So why not?

We are asking the world to help fund it so we can own it. Six episodes. It’s very scary when you’re putting yourself out there on any project that I work on whether it’s walking down a Vicotria’s Secret runway or if it’s ‘Celebrity Grounds.’ It’s very scary so I always tell myself like I said I learned on [Kanye’s] ‘Runaway,’ commit and proceed. Because as long as you commit yourself to something, you just got to proceed. You can’t look back. You can’t think about the ‘Oh, but what if…’ and blah, blah, blah. Just alwyas put your best foot forward and keep it moving. If it doesn’t happen, at least you learned something in the process.
